Firehoop Fun Day 2009

Hot Air Balloon Trip

We met at 1600 hours on Thursday 8th October 2009 in a Stroud car park to begin our adventure.

At approximately 1640 we started our ascent to the sounds of nervous laughter and gas (burners).

After champagne, David pointed out a giant yellow duck. It turned out to be a VW Beetle with the bonnet up. We are determined not to let him forget this.

We really did see lots of deer, pheasants and hares.

Karen became our impromptu tour guide between fuel burning as someone misheard that she'd lived in the area for 250 years.

We eventually landed in a farmer's field and were immediately surrounded by scary looking bullocks. As if that wasn't frightening enough, the balloon then tipped over with most of us still inside! It all ended well however, with no serious injuries and a celebratory drink and a curry.
